Medical Assistant – Part-time
Thursdays and Fridays - 12 hours per week
The Medical Assistant provides clinical support for medical practitioners, conducts follow-up with the patients concerning lab and other tests results, and triages patient calls. Performs phlebotomy work and injections, manages patient records; acts as a liaison between patient, hospital, other providers and the practitioners. On-the-job training provided.

- Triages patient calls and prepares patients to be seen by provider. Notifies patients of applicable test result.
- Assists practitioners with medical procedures and assists providers with minor surgical procedures.
- Performs in-office testing and treatment. Orders patient lab tests.
- Documents information appropriately in patient electronic health records.
- Performs immunizations and update state impact program.
- Prepares and maintains X-Ray equipment, sets machine for images, and sends images.
- Medication management and distribution.
- Assists in after-hour care as needed.
- Order clinical supplies and maintain adequate supplies in treatment and exam rooms.
Qualifications - On-the-job training provided.
- Experience working in a medical office setting preferred.
- Warm and effective communicator, with the ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds.
- Good telephone skills.
- Good organizational skills to handle multiple priorities while remaining professional and calm.
- Ability to respect and to maintain privacy and dignity of patients and ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Computer skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, and data entry.
- Ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner.
- Neat and professional appearance.
- Work history of good attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements
- Sit and operate a standard computer keyboard and mouse for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to talk and hear.
- Ability to stand and walk.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, view computer screens. Ability to adjust and read multiple handwriting styles.
