Refund Policy
Islands Community Medical Services, Inc. (“ICMS”) recognizes that you may be entitled to a refund due to an overpayment, duplicate payment received, or additional payment made by an insurance company. If a refund is due, ICMS will first check to determine if you have another open account with ICMS (“Alternate Open Account”) for which a balance is due. If so, ICMS will notify you and apply the overpayment to the balance in the Alternate Open Account. If no Alternate Open Account exists, or there are additional funds remaining after payment of the balance remaining on an Alternate Open Account, the ICMS billing department will issue the appropriate refund to you. Our billing department can be reached by phone at 207.863.4348.

Maine Community Accountable Care Organization

This Medicare Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organization (ACO) has been established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to help your healthcare providers coordinate more closely with each other and see that you get the right care at the right time.
Your Medicare benefits stay exactly the same whether you use a physician participating in the ACO or not. That means there are no changes in cost or coverage. You are not being enrolled into a Medicare Advantage or Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plan, and this does not change your Medicare Supplement coverage. You can still choose to see any doctor or go to any hospital that accepts Medicare at any time.
Over time, with our providers participating in an ACO, you may notice that:

Over time, with our providers participating in an ACO, you may notice that:
- You don’t have to ll out as many medical forms that ask for the same information.
- The health care providers that you see all know what’s going on with your health because they communicate with each other.
- You don’t need to repeat medical tests because your results are shared among your health care team.
- The providers participating in the ACO will work with you to make sure the care decisions respect your preferences.

HealthInfoNet

HealthInfoNet is an independent, nonprofit organization using information technology to improve patient care quality and safety. The organization’s core service line is the management of a secure computer system, called a health information exchange (HIE), for doctors, hospitals and other providers to share important health information and improve patient care.
The HIE system links medical information from separate health care sites to create a single electronic patient health record, then allows authorized providers to see that record to support patient care. In an emergency, this helps providers quickly and more accurately diagnose and treat patients. In non-emergency situations it can decrease ordering of repeat tests and give providers a more complete picture of their patients’ care.
HealthInfoNet maintains an opt-out consent process for general medical information and an opt-in patient consent for certain behavioral health and HIV related information as required by Maine State law. The HIE has just over a 1% opt-out rate.
