ICMS OFFICERS
Joanna O. Reidy
PRESIDENT
Joanna is a lifelong resident of Vinalhaven. She has a degree in Broadcast Communications. Joanna has 3 daughters. Her youngest daughter, Tess, was born with a rare disease called Rett Syndrome; she sadly passed away from complications of it in 2024. In 2019 Joanna organized, hosted, and spoke at the first Parents As Experts Conference at the University of New England, a conference to help parents learn how to better advocate for their children with special needs. She has taught students from Harvard Medical School about caring for a child with a rare disease while at Boston Children’s Hospital. She and Tess were part of the Pediatric Physical Therapy Curriculum as well as led Q&A classes for Pediatric Occupational Therapy at The University of New England. Joanna currently serves as a Family Faculty Member of the Maine LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities) Program at the University of New England. Joanna joined the ICMS Board of Trustees in September of 2021 and was elected President in April 2024.
Dr. Janann Sherman
VICE PRESIDENT
Dr. Janann Sherman earned a PhD in History from Rutgers University in 1993. She taught American Political History and Women’s History for 20 years at the University of Memphis (Tennessee), and for the last 9 years was Chair of the History Department. She is the author of ten books. After spending numerous summers on the island, she retired and moved permanently to Vinalhaven in 2013.
Susan Clapham
SECRETARY
Susan Clapham is the Founder/President of Clapham Consulting, a boutique management consulting firm that provides strategy, operations, leadership, and transaction support. In this role, Susan sells and delivers consulting projects for Fortune 500, non-profits, private equity, and mid-market organizations to increase profits and performance. Previously, Susan was a consultant for McKinsey & Company. Susan served on the Board of Trustees for Gaston Day School, a private school for K-12 students in North Carolina from 2019-2022. Before consulting, Susan held engineering and executive leadership roles at Otis Elevator in Connecticut and Indiana, ABB in Kentucky, The Hon Company in South Carolina, and Crédit Agricole in London. Susan holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University and a Master's degree from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Business. Susan has been coming to Vinalhaven her whole life. Her grandfather, Hess Clapham, purchased the family farm on Coombs Neck in 1946 on his first trip to Vinalhaven to visit his good friend and college roommate from UPenn, Dr. Ralph Earle. This was the same year as ICMS was first established on Main Street in Vinalhaven.
