    ​Dick Young has been coming to Vinalhaven for over thirty years. He and his wife moved to Maine in 2014. They spend summers on the island and visit year-round. Dick is a retired physician who worked in hospital administration as a Medical Director and practiced psychiatry.

    ​Emily Lane has been a community leader in Vinalhaven where she has lived for 50 years. She currently runs her own consulting business: Blue Lobster Consulting LLC. Emily has been actively involved in the lobster industry for over 30 years, locally, nationally and internationally.

    Gail has been coming to Vinalhaven with her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends since 1982. She retired from a 20+ year career in hospital and outpatient operations and finance in 2011, and is now spending nearly half each year here, enjoying hiking the many trails, kayaking and generally enjoying this beautiful place.

    Connie Gemmer is a communications consultant. She works for POWER Engineers and has her own consulting LLC. Connie and her husband Fred live in Portland. They spend as much time as possible at their house in Vinalhaven (often referred to as Dr. Ray’s house/office).

    Barbara Kinder, MD, returns to the Board after 6 years. A retired surgeon and professor, she has lived on Vinalhaven seasonally for over 20 years and since retirement is on island half time. She is looking forward to working with staff and Board members to help ICMS serve the Community.

MEMBERS OF THE BOARD

    Jeanne Bineau-Ames came to Vinalhaven in 1989 and taught English for 12 years to middle and high school students. When her youngest son entered kindergarten, she returned to work as a special ed technician. Today, she owns Vinalhaven taxi, provides home health services for the elderly, and works as an island EMT. She also serves on a variety of town committees and the Pleasant River Grange.

    Laura Blankertz has been coming to Vinalhaven for over 60 years. When she is not on the island, she resides in Newtown Square, PA. Before she retired, Laura focused her work on evaluation of behavioral health programs.

  • Co-Chair of the Building and Grounds Committee

    Steve Blatt is a lifelong Mainer born in Auburn. He practices architecture with a focus on school design; his work includes the schools on North Haven and Islesboro. He and artist/wife Lynn live in Portland, and for the past 20 years have spent as much time as possible, year-round, on Vinalhaven.

    Merry Boone first came to Vinalhaven in 1989 and has returned every year since. She and her husband, Jim, purchased a home here in 2000, and live on the island April-October and in Springfield, MA the rest of the year. Now retired, Merry has worked as a non-profit health administrator, a public-school teacher, and a gardener. This is Merry’s second time serving on the ICMS Board.

    Doug Fincham is a year-round resident of Vinalhaven for the past three years. He has a degree in Food Science from Iowa State University. He brings extensive education and experience in finance, accounting, and investments. He worked as an entrepreneur in the delivery of ancillary health care.

    Catherine is a lifelong resident of Vinalhaven. She has served on an advisory committee for Vinalhaven’s Community Development Corporation and is currently working as a Relationship Banker at Camden National Bank.

  • Member of the Quality Committee; Member of the Fund Drive and Donations Committee

    Sandy Lieber’s involvement with ICMS spans 50 years: first as a medical student, then as a healthcare provider, and as a patient. He has served as a member of the ICMS Board of Trustees for more than 20 years. He lives on Vinalhaven three seasons of the year (spring, summer, and fall)

  • Member of the Personnel Committee

    Joanna is a life-long resident of Vinalhaven. She has a degree in Broadcast Communications. Joanna has three amazing daughters, the youngest with a rare disease called Rett syndrome. In 2019 she organized, hosted, and spoke at the first Parents as Experts Conference at the University of New England in 2019 as a Maine LEND Trainee. Joanna currently serves as a Family Faculty Member of the Maine LEND Program at the University of New England.

    Kathi Young is a lifelong resident of Vinalhaven. She has served on the Affordable Housing Committee, Vinalhaven School Board, and the Vinalhaven Board of Selectmen. She is currently the Manager at Island Lobster Supply.
